Andrea Helfrich - Miss Philadelphia 2010

Andrea Helfrich is 21 years old and will graduate in May from West Chester University with a degree in Communication Studies. After becoming the victim of a drunk driving crash at 15 years old, she went on to share her story with thousands of elementary and junior high students in Bucks County, PA. After becoming a volunteer and spokesperson for Mother's Against Drunk Driving, she entered the Miss America system hoping to amplify the message of her platform, The Fight Against Drunk Driving. As a freshman, she was elected as an ambassador for West Chester University, starred on the educational TV series, Whaddyado and designed a dance costume sold nationally in a Wish Come True dance catalog. She has been studying dance for 18 years, during which she competed with West Chester University's dance team and was a member of the University dance company. She aspires to continue her work of event planning and become a news broadcaster. During her year of service, Andrea hopes to raise 100,000 dollars to help eliminate drunk driving. Andrea was crowned Miss Philadelphia 2010 on March 27th and will continue in the Miss America system at Miss Pennsylvania in June 2010.
