Maria Scirillo - Miss Philadelphia 2011
Maria Sciorillo, a South Philadelphia native is the daughter of Robert Sciorillo, former financial secretary of Philadelphia Pipefitters and currently with Philadelphia Trust Fund and Angela Sciorillo, native of South Philadelphia and graduate of Philadelphia Settlement Music School. Maria graduated from two high schools, Mercer County Performing Arts High and Pennsbury High School. Maria then moved to New York and graduated from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Where she completed the integrated program of Voice, Acting, and Dance. She is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and Actors Equity Association. Her passion for the arts inspired her to become an ambassador for Save the Music Foundation.
Due to the budget cuts in Philadelphia, there was recently a time when three out of five schools did not have music or an art teacher on their payroll. Maria's goal as Miss Philadelphia 2011 is to reinstate music programs back into schools even if it she personally has to give the children music lessons herself. Statistics have proven that students who are involved in the arts succeed in school, and education gives our children a future.
Maria Sciorillo is honored and grateful to hold the title of Miss Philadelphia 2011
